Activity: Backpacking, Car camping, hot springs?!

Difficulty: 6/8 ** this is a tough one, not a beginner backpacking trip** the hike is about 8.5 miles each way with about 2500 ft of steady elevation gain, please reach out if you have questions!!

Pre-Trip Meeting: May be scheduled closer to the trip.

Leave around 11am on Friday to drive 5-6 hours to Mammoth Lakes, CA. We’ll hit some hot springs on the way, car camp that night, wake up early, and drive to the High Trail trailhead. Hike 7 miles in on the first day and camp at the beauutiiifulll Thousand Island Lake with insane mountain views AND alpine lake action. Hang out at camp, maybe take a dip, and eat dinner! Rise early on Sunday morning to backpack out and drive back to LA . Expect to be back around 5/6pm.

What to Bring:

*REMINDER: if you do not have something on this list, do not panic. SC Outfitters has gear that can supplement whatever you have!*

  • Masks, hand sanitizer, and cleared Trojan Check (will be worn in all closed spaces and in transit)

  • Mess Kit (Fork/Spoon, Plate/Bowl/Frisbee)

  • Backpacking Backpack (50L capacity and above)

  • Sleeping Pad

  • Sleeping Bag

  • Headlamp

  • 2-3L of water (in water bottles or water bladder)

  • Warm sweatshirt/Jacket/Fleece

  • Coat/Puffer

  • Wind layer/Rain coat

  • Comfortable Hiking Shoes: Hiking Boots!!

  • Socks, including warm ones

  • Underwear

  • Toiletries

  • Swimsuit

  • Sunscreen/Sun Protection

  • Comfortable athletic clothes

  • Camp shoes: chaos/crocs/etc

  • Great vibes!!!

  • Playing cards/riddles
