Are you feeling a little slotty? Do you feel an urge to go burst into the outdoors? Well do we have the trip for you. Bringing Mr. Arthur Johnston out of retirement, Em and Em are ready to drive you around the southwest in a van fit for a celebrity. It’s a 7 day trip that will reinvigorate your love for rocks, water, and granola bars.
We start on a sendy drive out to Bryce Canyon where we will cocoon like little butterflies in our sleeping bags under the Utah sky. Then on day two we explore Bryce then move on to the lovely Capitol Reef National Park that looks like scenery from Emmy’s favorite film The Host (based on the novel by Stephanie Meyer). Post Capitol Reef it’s Coyote Gulch time, and that means backpacking.
Our 2 day backpack will go into Coyote Gulch where we get to be immersed by the lovely red rocks around us. Only an 11 mile round trip backpack, it’s a surefire way to introduce yourself to the lovely world of carrying everything on your back.
Post backpack we hit Zebra Canyon and will discuss the best film featuring a zebra (you know we are talking about Madagascar). Be prepared for a heated debate about who is the best character in that cinematic universe. After our heated debate we will zoom to Lake Powell and chill at a relaxing camp spot.
The next morning it’s PADDLEBOARDING BABY. We are jumping on personal flotation devices and floating around Lake Powell. It’s the stuff dreams are made of. After a lovely day of splish splashin around we head to Sandhollow for a lovely night.
Now it’s time for St. George day. Natural rock water slides? Check. Glorious sandy state park? Check. Waterfalls? Check freaking yes. After a day of all that adventure we will drive a little ways back to the Las Vegas area to camp for the night and prepare for Hot Springs in the morning.
After Hot Springs, sadly, our week has come to an end and we must head back to the bright city of stars (Los Angeles) and reflect on the incredible outdoors people we are.
