WELCOMEEE MAUI SENDERS!!!!!! Are you trying to have the best spring break of your whole life? If so, look no further because…WE’RE GOING TO MAUI!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Get stoked, get hyped, and get a little sunburnt with us because we’re about to be causing MAYHEM IN MAUI. Maui is the ultimate mix of wild volcanic craters, lush jungle, and dreamy beaches, and we’re hitting it all—from backpacking through Haleakalā’s craters to chasing waterfalls and black sand beaches on the Road to Hana, to snorkeling and surfing our hearts out on the coast. We’ve got a packed lineup plus plenty of time to chill, eat absurd amounts of good food, and stare at many stars.
NOTE: This trip REQUIRES AN APPLICATION, so please be sure to read this page in its entirety and then complete the application below. The application will close Sunday, 2/15 at 11:59PM.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Fly in from LA, pick up rental cars, stock up on food, fuel, and backpacking supplies. Head to Hosmer’s Grove campground for our first night, organizing gear and prepping for the backpacking trip that starts the next morning!!
Days 2-4: BACKPACKING HALEAKALA! Spend an unreal three days backpacking through Haleakalā Crater, dropping in on Sliding Sands, hiking past wild volcanic colors, and camping under insane stars and huge crater walls. The 3 days of backpacking are: 9.4 mi + 394 ft / 6.6 mi + 1627 ft / 4.0 mi + 1736 ft.
Day 5-6: ROAD TO HANA! Driving this LEGENDARY road (in reverse) with as many waterfall stops as the group wants, hunting for free fruit at Keʻanae Arboretum, swimming at black sand beaches, and exploring spots like the Pools of ʻOheʻo, the Pipiwai Trail, and Waimoku Falls before crashing at our oceanfront Waiʻānapanapa campsite.
Day 7: Finishing the Road to Hana in reverse takes us to the northern part of Maui. On the way, we will try world-famous banana bread, check out rainbow eucalyptus trees, see sea turtles at Ho’okipa Beach, and, ocean permitting, watch some of the biggest waves in the world at Pe’ahi (Jaws) before heading to Camp Oluwalu for the night.
Day 8: Our last full day! Since we’ll be exhausted, we can chill at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and, in a SCO first, go surfing! No experience or gear is required, the waves will be calm and we can teach you. Snorkeling and kayaking are also in the cards!
NOTE: This is very much your spring break, and we want to do the things YOU want to do! Much of the details are left vague on purpose so we can choose what to do as a group!
