Trip Description:

Is that a deer springing through the forest?! No… it’s just a rad group of SCO hikers making their way up to San Jacinto peak!!!

Join Alex, Blake, and Ellen for an epic backpacking adventure to San Jacinto! We will start our trip by meeting at Hecuba Statue in the USC Village at 6:30am on Friday, October 24. Then, we are headed to Deer Springs Trailhead for our hike where we will be springin’ like deer through the mountain. The first day we are hiking 7 miles with 4,175 feet of elevation gain to our campsite: Little Round Valley Campground. We will enjoy a nice dinner and good times with our group there until we go to bed.

The next morning, we will get up early and make our way to the summit! There are some beautiful views to take in at the summit, and it is often cited as John Muir’s favorite lookout point in southern California. After the summit, we will make our way back down the mountain with about 10 miles of hiking on Saturday. We will finish our hike around 5pm and be back at USC by 8pm.

Come join us in conquering San Jacinto Peak!!
